Out of her heart flows an ocean. Out of her lips flow rivers of life! Kezia, artistically known as Cassia Gold now Miss Gold, began her creative journey experimenting in writing poetry at an early age. Because of the overwhelming responses from educators and her peers Miss Gold felt encouraged and her interest was piqued to further explore this art form. As her curiosity was aroused it grew into a passion and she would soon discover her very own voice as a woman and as a poet. As she began to tap into the feelings of what she offered audiences, more and more the desire to write, to express, to create, and to perform intensified. In 2004 her poetry was birthed into the world. Miss Gold would then begin to tour venues in and around the DC, Maryland and Virginia areas cementing her popularity as a trendsetter of spoken word thus propelling her dreams forward. In 2009 Cassia released her first album, The Contractions. With this project critics and fans witnessed the powerful delivery combination of spiritual conclusions mixed with raw emotion, delicate phrasing and mind bending metaphors that have become her hallmark. In 2010 she was nominated by the DMV Awards for “The Best Poet of 2009” for the DC, Maryland and Virginia.  In 2012 she was voted by the DMV Christian Music Awards for "The Best Poet of 2012" for DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Cassia’s purpose is to inspire children, women and men with the words of her lips and the ink from her pen. Planted at the pit of her heart she is reminded according to Proverbs 20:15,"Lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel.” Miss Gold’s intention is to allow the knowledge of God to flow within her so that she is able to pour out into a nation that is hungry seeking after the things of Him.  Undeniably she is one woman but she is a woman that has taken her rightful place stepping into the many roles as an educator, poet, model, motivational speaker and fashion designer. She is currently promoting her clothing line Paraclete Couture and promoting her spoken word albums.
In 2011, Miss Gold decided to reach out to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to share her story.  Through NAMI, she has found the most amazing community of people who understand her completely.  By sharing her story, she began a new healing process that allowed her to step out of her comfort zone and release the shame.  As a full and active member of NAMI, she travels and share’s her full testimony to a variety of groups.
Acknowledging and accepting the diagnosis of bipolar was one of the most difficult yet rewarding things to do in her life.   In 2005, Miss Gold was 23 in college when she was first diagnosed. She stands today 11 years later, clear, determined, focused, healthy, woke and full of life.   During all of her treatments, episodes and trials, she never gave up her passion for poetry and sewing.  It was sewing that gave her peace and kept her going.  While spoken word gave her the confidence to share and express her inner feelings and thoughts.  She did not allow the illness to detour her dreams of becoming fashion designer or word smith.   Her dream is to travel around the globe using the expression of her many artistic gifts and talents to bring hope, freedom and strength to heal nations.
